Inter have been sent a warning from Sampdoria midfielder Jakub Jankto ahead of Wednesday’s clash between the sides in Genova.

Antonio Conte’s side will resume their Serie A campaign after a brief winter break at home to Crotone on Sunday, before travelling to play the Blucerchiati three days later.

The Nerazzurri will be looking to extend their seven-game winning run in the league but Jankto, previously a transfer target for Inter, is convinced Samp can cause an upset.

Speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb, the 24-year-old said: “We’re always aiming to pick up points.

“We’ve beaten Lazio 3-1 this season, we won 3-0 against Fiorentina and we won away at Atalanta; they were all very difficult matches but we were able to win so why can’t we beat Inter as well?

“We can beat anybody in the league but we need to find consistency.

“You have to be lucky in these sorts of games, you have to expect they will create chances at some point.

“You have to hope they make mistakes whereas you need to be perfect to get a result, but we’ll have a go and if we play like we did in those previous matches I think we can do well.”

Inter are one point behind Serie A leaders AC Milan after finishing 2020 on a high note, following their disappointment exit from the UEFA Champions League.

Conte’s men will finish a busy week away at Roma next Sunday before they conclude the first half of the season with matches against Juventus and Udinese, Jankto’s former club.

They also face a tricky trip to play Fiorentina in the last 16 of the Coppa Italia on 13 January.
