Former Catania, Cagliari and Palermo sporting director Nicola Salerno discussed Inter linked Papu Gomez in an interview with Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb recently.

“I had Papu Gomez at Catania, he is a player of great quality and I remember him as a perfect guy, a great professional. I don’t understand what happened. Whoever gets him is getting a bargain.”

The 32-year-old Gomez, who is contracted to Atalanta until 2022, has suffered a complete relationship breakdown with coach Gian Piero Gasperini and will certainly leave the Bergamo based club after six and a half years in this month’s transfer window.

Inter, alongside other interested clubs like Fiorentina, Lazio and Torino, are keenly following the situation, hoping to secure his signature ahead of their rivals.

Gomez wanted to leave the club on a free transfer this month, and head to another Italian team, but the Bergamaschi will not give him away and want at least €10 million for his signature.

The 32-year-old Argentinian forward has made 16 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1122 minutes. In that time, he has scored five goals and provided four assists.
