Inter coach Antonio Conte spoke to gathered reporters in a press conference, following on from the Nerazzurri’s thrilling 6-2 win over newly promoted Crotone.
His statements were reported by Italian media outlet FcInterNews.
First, he touched on where the team can look to improve, despite such an impressive win.
“Continuing with this team would be important because we produce a lot. We’re producing a lot and scoring a lot of goals in attack. I’m disappointed for the goals we conceded.
“Today we were surprised by one from a set piece. They did well, then we conceded a penalty due to our own naivety. The margins for improvement lie in conceding less defensively, we can work on these two goals.”
The 51-year-old Italian coach touched on the return of Italian midfielder Stefano Sensi and what effect his presence gives to the team.
“First of all, we are happy that Stefano is becoming Sensi again. Let’s not forget that between last year and this year we only had him at the start of last year in the first seven games.
“Now he’s starting to feel good, he’s getting back to being what we saw at the start of last season.
“He’s a player who definitely gives us quality and I’m happy for him and also for the changes we made today. Those who came in did so with the right attitude, showing that this is a group with a lot of desire and that they are doing well.”
The 25-year-old Sensi, who is contracted to the Milanese club until 2024, has made nine appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 270 minutes.
He has struggled with injuries for most of this season and last, but has finally started to reach his peak fitness.
The Nerazzurri’s win has put them top of the league table after 15 games with 36 points. They are two points ahead of intercity rivals AC Milan, who can retake their spot at the top with a win over Pippo Inzaghi’s Benevento this evening.
