Inter Midfielder Roberto Gagliardini: “Crotone Can Play Good Football But We’re Ready”

Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini discussed today’s Serie A clash against Crotone, the team’s strong recent form and the goals for 2021 in an interview with Italian broadcaster Inter TV before the game.

“There is great enthusiasm, we come from an important string of wins. We’ve been able to celebrate with our families at home, and we’ve had a few days off.

“We’re back in training, we’ve had a chance to train hard and we’re ready to take on this game.”

The 26-year-old Italian midfielder commented on his goals and objectives for 2021.

“Definitely to get to April and play all the way. We have all the potential, and we have to do something better than last year, we will try to give everything on the field.”

He then discussed what he expects to see from today’s match against Crotone, who are currently 19th in the Serie A table after 14 games.

“It’s a difficult game, a bit like Spezia. They’re both newly promoted but they’ve both shown they can play good football, be proactive and not feel the pressure of Serie A.

“I think it will be a tough game to face. I think it’s going to be a tough game that we have to approach in the right way.”

Finally, Gagliardini discussed today’s match with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia before the game.

“We are well both physically and mentally, and we trained well during the break. We’ve come from seven wins in a row and it’s important to keep this streak going, also because we’re playing first. Our goal is to be up there, it’s still too early to look at the table. But we have the potential to stay at the top until the end.”

The 26-year-old Gagliardini, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, has made 14 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 865 minutes.

In that time, he has scored two goals and provided two assists, being a regular part of coach Antonio Conte’s tactical system.

Inter are currently second in the league after 14 games, sitting on 33 points, one behind rivals and league leaders AC Milan.

A win today is crucial if Conte’s side want to keep up the pressure on the Rossoneri, who play Benevento this evening.
