Inter target Papu Gomez is more likely to leave Atalanta for an overseas club than the Nerazzurri in January, according to one of Italy’s leading broadcasters.

Sky Sport Italia reported today that a move abroad is currently the most viable option for the 32-year-old Argentine, who is widely expected to leave the Bergamaschi this month after falling out with Gian Piero Gasperini.

Inter have been heavily linked with a move for the former Catania player in recent weeks as Antonio Conte seeks reinforcements for his attacking line-up.

Despite the tension between Gomez and Gasperini, though, Atalanta still consider Gomez to be an integral player for them and have no intention of selling him on the cheap.

Atalanta are in no rush to get rid of the forward and are awaiting offers, albeit Sky did not specify how much money they want for him.

Inter secured an eighth straight win in Serie A by beating Crotone yesterday but are short of options up front, with Romelu Lukaku picking up a thigh problem in the 6-2 victory at San Siro.
