Alexis Sanchez is likely to return to Inter’s starting XI for Wednesday’s match at Sampdoria, according to reports in Italy today.

As per a report in this morning’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport, Sanchez, who returned to the bench for yesterday’s 6-2 win over Crotone, will partner Lautaro Martinez in Antonio Conte’s 3-5-2 system.

Reports elsewhere in Italy’s media on Monday, however, suggested Ivan Perisic would play with Lautaro after Sanchez was an unused substitute at San Siro.

Romelu Lukaku could be available for the match at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris as his thigh injury is not thought to be serious but the Belgian is unlikely to start.

Sanchez has two goals and three assists this season but has struggled in recent weeks with fitness issues, raising concerns over Inter’s lack of squad depth in attack.

The report goes on to add that Sanchez is not the only one about to return, with Andrea Pinamonti also having recovered following a few weeks out on the sidelines with an ankle injury that he picked up whilst playing for the Italy’s under-21s.
