Benevento have emerged as the leading contenders to sign Andrea Pinamonti on loan in January, according to reports in Italy tonight.

Transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà reported that Pippo Inzaghi’s newly-promoted side are looking to acquire two strikers in this month’s transfer window and have made an enquiry to the Nerazzurri.

Crotone have also been linked with the 21-year-old but they are said to be focusing on other targets.

Offloading Pinamonti would enable Inter to chase another forward signing of their own, with Parma’s Gervinho named as an option.

Pinamonti’s €3 million annual salary could prove an obstacle to any deal this month but he does have many suitors.

He has made just three cameo appearances in all competitions under Antonio Conte this season, including five minutes in the UEFA Champions League against Shakhtar Donetsk in October.

He has been out of action since mid-November due to an ankle problem sustained on international duty but is thought to be nearing a return to fitness.
