Inter could offer Atalanta a youngster from their academy in a bid to lower their asking price for Papu Gomez, according to Italian media reports.

As per a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport, Atalanta’s €10 million price tag for their captain is an obstacle for the Nerazzurri, who cannot afford to spend that much in January unless they sell players first.

But Inter president Steven Zhang boasts excellent relations with Atalanta and may be able to find a way to secure a deal for the 32-year-old, who is widely expected to leave the Bergamaschi this month after falling out with head coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

Inter could potentially offer Gaetano Oristanio, Sebastiano Esposito or Lorenzo Pirola in a bid to acquire Gomez, who has five goals and four assists in 16 appearances this season.

Antonio Conte is eagerly awaiting reinforcements up front with Alexis Sanchez suffering injury problems and Andrea Pinamonti expected to leave in January.
