Inter target Papu Gomez could yet end up staying at Atalanta despite being widely expected to leave the club in January, according to one of Italy’s leading broadcasters.

Sky Sport Italia today reiterated that the Bergamaschi are in no mood to sell the 32-year-old on the cheap, despite his falling out with head coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

It remains unclear for now whether there are any clubs willing to meet Atalanta’s demands for the former Catania player, with a number of recent reports in the media claiming they want €10 million to part company with Gomez.

The report therefore states it cannot be excluded that Gomez stays in Bergamo until the end of the season, even though it will be difficult for him and Gasperini to sort out their differences.

Gomez has been widely tipped to leave Atalanta in this transfer window and Inter are one of the clubs to have been most strongly linked with signing him.
