Inter are the first Serie A team to score 6+ goals in the first game of their calendar year since Fiorentina achieved that against Udinese in 1959, according to a report from Italian stats provider Opta Paolo on Twitter yesterday.
The Nerazzurri started the game sluggishly, conceding an early goal and then a penalty to end the first half level with the Calabrian side at 2-2.
In the second half Inter appeared a different side, slaughtering Crotone and ending the game 6-2.
Opta Paolo posted the tweet, saying:
“6 – Inter are the first side to score 6+ goals in their first calendar year match in Serie A since Fiorentina against Udinese back in 1959. Fulminant.”
