Former Inter defender Beppe Bergomi was not surprised by the Nerazzurri’s dominant performance in Sunday’s 6-2 win over Crotone.

Antonio Conte’s side notched up an eighth straight win in Serie A thanks to a hat-trick from Lautaro Martinez and goals from Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi, as well as an own goal from Luca Marrone.

They remain one point behind league leaders AC Milan ahead of Wednesday’s trip to play Sampdoria.

“It was the usual display from Inter, who were solid and won the game in the second half,” Bergomi explained while appearing on Sky Sport Italia on Sunday night.

The 1982 World Cup-winning defender then shared his thoughts on the performance of the midfield against the Rossoblu and said things changed when Stefano Sensi came on at half time.

“There is physicality in all departments but not in midfield with Vidal, Brozovic and Barella, but with Sensi on the pitch there was a different speed of thought.

“Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez combined very well against Crotone.

“Inter’s approach to the game tends to be good, Hakimi has to improve a lot defensively but has incredible speed.”

The former Inter captain then suggested that Inter were taking risks by playing in the manner that they were at San Siro.

“Inter always wanted to press in an ultra-attacking manner and when they tried to be aggressive, even against Crotone, they were taking a risk because those in the defence are good but do not have speed.

Bergomi, who spent the entirety of his playing career on Inter’s books, then touched briefly on Marcelo Brozovic: “Brozovic? He always wants to win the ball back and press high but sometimes you have to wait when your opponent is having good possession.”

In conclusion, Bergomi, who has made the second most appearances of all time for Inter, spoke on Arturo Vidal and shared his belief that the Chilean national team representative is lacking in terms of fitness.

“Vidal? He’s too rash.

“He is good sometimes because he can win the ball back like he did for the second goal, this is his strength, but at the moment he is lacking sharpness.

“When you are not fit you run into situations like the one when he gave away Crotone’s penalty.”
