Inter loanee Sebastiano Esposito will return to the club in January after falling out of favour at Spal, according to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

Esposito, 18, has scored just once for Pasquale Marino’s side in Serie B and has not started since the 2-0 win at home to Salernitana on 6 November.

In total he has made 10 league appearances this season but he has been an unused substitute in each of Spal’s last five matches.

Inter will now be forced to look for a new club for Esposito in the second half of the season, with no indication from Di Marzio as to who that could be.

Esposito made 14 appearances for Inter last season, including an impressive second-half display against Borussia Dortmund in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League.

He scored his one and only goal in Serie A thus far in a 4-0 win over Genoa on 21 December in 2019, after Romelu Lukaku allowed him to take a penalty.
