Inter’s treble-winning hero Diego Milito says he will never forget the feeling of scoring in the Nerazzurri’s Champions League Final win over Bayern Munich.

El Principe joined Inter in the summer of 2009 and spent six years in black-and-blue before returning to Argentina to finish his career with Racing Club.

He spoke to Inter’s academy players during their annual Christmas party, which had to be held virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Asked about the greatest and most difficult goals of his career, Milito told them, as quoted by FcInter1908.it: “I have scored many goals, but the most important I would say are the ones I scored in the Coppa Italia final against Roma on 5 May and in Madrid in the Champions League Final.

“I say these ones due to what they meant and for their beauty, I think they are goals that I will always remember.”

Milito also spoke to Inter’s youngsters about what it takes to become a successful professional footballer.

“When you’re on a journey facing difficulties is normal,” he assured them.

“It takes mental strength to go beyond them.

“When you are young you have the dream of playing at great levels and the only way you do that is through hard work.

“You also need to have values such as humility and respect, those together with work are important and things that we must always have.

“We must remember this every moment.”

Milito then went on to insist that he would do everything that he did in his career all over again if he could.

“I’d do everything I’ve done again,” he added.

“Football has given me more than I thought since I was 15-years-old.

“I have always kept these values in mind in order to go the right way.

“I want to point this out because when you are young you have so many distractions.

“It is very important to look for the right path and go after those dreams to get to certain levels.

“I had to work a lot, like so many others who did not have the same luck as I did.”

During his time with the club, Milito made 171 appearances across all competitions, in which he managed to score 75 goals and provide 29 assists for his teammates.
