Inter produced their best attacking performance in recent weeks against Sampdoria despite falling to defeat, according to Italian football journalist Marco Bucciantini.
The Nerazzurri created plenty of chances in the first half, including an Alexis Sanchez penalty which was saved by Emil Audero, before going 2-0 down to the hosts by the half-time interval.
Antonio Conte’s side did manage to finally take advantage of one of their chances when Stefan de Vrij headed home from a corner and reduced the deficit to one goal, but Inter were unable to find an equaliser.
The defeat at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris was Inter’s first defeat in the league since their Derby della Madonnina defeat to AC Milan on match day four in October.
The loss today also brought an end to Inter’s recent winning streak in Serie A which reached eight games.
“In terms of attacking production, Inter played their best game in recent times,” Bucciantini explained whilst present in the studios of Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, following the match.
“They had key moments that went against them in the first half and went too far behind to rescue a result on a pitch as treacherous as this.
“Sampdoria demonstrated an ability to withstand all Inter’s pressure.”
Inter’s next match will be against third-placed Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday, with the Giallorossi now within three points after their win at Crotone today.
