Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has been offered to Inter, according to a report in Italy tonight.

The Germany international is out of contract in the summer and would represent a low-cost option for the Nerazzurri in defence.

Danilo D’Ambrosio was ruled out of action for a month with a knee injury today and this could persuade Inter to intervene at the back.

Inter are said by FcInterNews.it to have ‘taken note’ of the offer and will evaluate it properly in the coming days.

Mustafi, 28, has already played in Serie A with Sampdoria and was linked with moves to Inter in numerous transfer windows in the past.

Barcelona are interested in signing him on a free in the summer while Genoa, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray have come calling too.

Mustafi has rejected all three as he wants a big club, such as Barca or Inter, with which he can kick-start his career.

He has fallen out of favour in north London under Mikel Arteta, making just three Premier League appearances so far this season.
