Inter were recently offered the chance to sign Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha, according to reports in Italy today.

Wednesday’s surprise defeat at Sampdoria further highlighted the need for the Nerazzurri to acquire an extra striker during the January transfer window.

Today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport noted how Inter have failed to find a back-up to Romelu Lukaku, who started on the bench at Marassi due to a thigh injury, in each of the last three windows.

The report however states that Inter cannot currently afford to sign former Manchester United winger Zaha due to their lack of economic resources this month.

It has become apparent this season that Andrea Pinamonti cannot give Lukaku, who has scored 50 goals in 71 games for the club, the support and rest he sometimes needs.

Inter are not currently in a position which allows them to spend in the transfer market, though, meaning they are forced to work on  low-cost deals and free transfers.

Free agent Graziano Pelle, Parma’s Gervinho and Jiangsu Suning’s Eder are all options Inter could look into provided that Christian Eriksen and Pinamonti both leave.
