Fiorentina have expressed an interest in signing Atalanta captain and Inter target Papu Gomez, according to an Italian newspaper report today.

Turin-based paper Tuttosport report that the Viola are looking to address their lack of goals and in addition to Parma’s Roberto Inglese and Lazio’s Felipe Caicedo, Gomez is a player on their radar.

The report does however suggest that for primarily economic reasons, a deal will not be easy for Fiorentina, considering Atalanta have ruled out letting Gomez leave on a free transfer.

The 32-year-old Argentine has been widely tipped with leaving Atalanta this month having had a complete breakdown in relations with Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

Inter have been heavily linked with signing Gomez and as per various reports in the Italian media, the Nerazzurri club have in fact already agreed personal terms with him.

Gomez has made 16 appearances this season and has five goals and four assists to his name.
