Inter have one of the least effective subs benches among Serie A’s leading clubs, a report in Italy’s media highlighted today.

Antonio Conte was criticised for poor game management during yesterday’s 2-2 draw at Roma, with most agreeing his substitutions helped contribute to Inter losing their lead late on at the Stadio Olimpico.

Conte’s three changes led to the Nerazzurri dropping deeper and deeper and meant Gianluca Mancini’s 86th-minute equaliser was ‘inevitable’, according to the print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report goes on to highlight that Inter have only scored four goals from players to have come off the bench in Serie A this season, which is fewer than the likes of Atalanta, Juventus, Napoli, AC Milan and Lazio.

When it comes to goals and assists, there has been a total of 10 from players to have come on during the course of the match.

Of players not considered starters, only Ivan Perisic has exceeded 1000 minutes this season and it is noted that he has also been one of the most disappointing non-starters.

On the contrary, Stefano Sensi is a player who has made a real impact off of the bench but has not been used in the last two matches due to the state of the pitches that Inter were playing on.
