Inter are in danger of missing out on a deal to sign Papu Gomez after Juventus made contact with the forward’s agent today, according to a report in Italy today.

Gomez is due to leave Atalanta in January and has been waiting for the Nerazzurri to make their move for 10 days, with no sign of action.

FcInterNews.it revealed that Inter cannot step up their pursuit of the 32-year-old until they offload Christian Eriksen and Andrea Pinamonti, whose hefty wages are making them difficult to shift.

The impasse could allow the Bianconeri to swoop and take Gomez from under their arch rivals’ noses, having identified him as a transfer target if Paulo Dybala’s injury – sustained yesterday in their 3-1 win against Sassuolo – turns out to be more serious than expected.

Fiorentina have also expressed an interest in signing the Argentine but Gomez wants to hold out for a move to a big club, ideally close enough to Bergamo to prevent moving too far from home.

Inter would appear to be the ‘ideal solution’ but the Nerazzurri’s January transfer activity is ‘paralyzed’ until they sell players first.

Eriksen’s situation remains ‘difficult’, with several clubs having made timid enquiries but none seemingly prepared to make an offer for the midfielder.
