Inter will resume talks with Lautaro Martinez over a new four-year deal at the end of the January, according to a report in Italy tonight.

As per TuttoMercatoWeb, the forward’s current contract expires in June 2023 but would be tied to the Nerazzurri until 2025 should negotiations reach a positive conclusion.

Inter wish to include a €150 million release clause which would only apply to Juventus, in a bid to dissuade their arch rivals in Serie A from making a move to sign El Toro.

The release clause in Lautaro’s existing contract is fixed at €111 million and it is not yet known whether this would be increased as part of the new agreement.

TMW said the parties still needed to sort a few details but that both are intent on reaching an agreement to extend the 23-year-old’s stay in Milan.

Lautaro has scored 10 goals in 23 appearances so far this season and is expected to start up front for Antonio Conte’s side in tomorrow’s Coppa Italia last 16 clash at Fiorentina.
