Inter are relying on fewer players to score their goals compared to some of their Serie A rivals, despite boasting the league’s best attack.
As explained in the print edition of Tuesday’s Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri have found the net with 11 players this season which is fewer than Atalanta, AC Milan and Torino, all of whom have scored fewer goals as a team.
Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez have scored 21 of the 43 goals that Antonio Conte’s side have scored in the league so far and Achraf Hakimi is the third best scorer with six goals, a highly impressive feat considering he is a wing-back.
A number of players have however yet to get their name on the score sheet, namely Arturo Vidal, Stefano Sensi, Ashley Young and Andrea Pinamonti.
Ivan Perisic and Alexis Sanchez have both scored albeit they only have one and two goals respectively.
The report explains that Inter would have an alternative goal scoring solution if they were to land Atalanta’s outcast Papu Gomez.
With Gomez’s acquisition, Inter could swap to a 3-4-2-1 system but it is clear that Inter would still face problems when Lukaku was missing.
