Inter chief executive Beppe Marotta has confirmed Suning are evaluating interest in Inter from other investors.

Antonio Conte’s side began their Coppa Italia last 16 tie at Fiorentina at 1500 local time.

But attention remained on the prospective change of ownership at the club during Marotta’s pre-match interview in Florence, with speculation continuing over the possibility that Suning sell a majority stake in the club.

“Suning are evaluating the opportunities in the interest of Inter and respecting the historical value of the club, the present and the future,” Marotta told Rai Sport.

“The management knows they are acting in a solid context, with a well-compacted technical area.

“These rumours must not affect us.”

As per various media reports, British based BC Partners are doing due diligence of Inter’s accounts and a deal to buy not only a minority but majority stake in the club could be wrapped up within the next few months.

Former Juventus executive Marotta, who has been with Inter since 2018, then went on to explain: “The Coppa Italia is a historic trophy, today we face a difficult opponent, we want to play another derby against AC Milan in the quarterfinals so we want to give everything today.”

“All official matches have a value.”

Inter are hoping to put Sunday’s disappointing draw at Roma behind them with victory at the Stadio Artemio Franchi today.

Conte made seven changes to his starting line-up from the game at the Stadio Olimpico, with Samir Handanovic, Milan Skriniar, Lautaro Martinez and Arturo Vidal the only men to keep their spots.

Stefano Sensi was supposed to start ahead of Vidal but had to pull out after picking up an injury during the warm-up.
