Atalanta do not want to sell club captain and reported Inter target Papu Gomez to one of their direct competitors in Serie A, according to an Italian media report today.

Gomez is growing increasingly further and further distant from the Bergamo club, having fallen out with head coach Gian Piero Gasperini during a Champions League fixture in November.

As per TuttoMercatoWeb, Saudi side Al-Hilal have made the 32-year-old forward an offer, but Gomez wishes to remain in Italy.

The report goes on to explain that Inter could potentially ask to take Gomez on loan, although it appears extremely unlikely Atalanta would accept such an offer.

The Bergamaschi are believed to be wanting a sum of €10 million for Gomez, who has been with them since 2014 and is under contract with them until the end of next season, and they would also consider the Nerazzurri exactly the kind of direct rival they do not want to strengthen.

The seemingly continuous tug of war between Gomez and Atalanta should be resolved in the next few days, following a reported meeting between the parties on Monday.
