Inter’s owners Suning have transferred technical control of the club over to Chinese tech colossus Alibaba, according to an Italian broadcaster’s report this afternoon.

As per Sport Mediaset, the rumours regarding Inter’s involvement with Alibaba, who are owned by Jack Ma, a long-term partner of Suning’s, have become fact on the day the Nerazzurri are holding an emergency board meeting to discuss the club’s financial problems.

Following the newly imposed Chinese government restrictions, Suning have realised that they cannot carry out their project that they had in mind for Inter when they bought the club from Erick Thohir in 2016.

The e-commerce giants have therefore decided that a change in direction is needed and they are determined to not only sell a minority but the majority stake in Inter that they own.

There are negotiations taking place with private equity fund BC Partners over the sale of the club, even if, according to information coming from financial circles, there are other parties interested in buying Inter.

Many reports have stated that BC Partners are conducting due diligence of Inter’s accounts and others have stated that they could make an offer in the coming weeks.
