Christian Eriksen’s hefty salary is putting off all interested clubs from making an offer to Inter, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Nerazzurri are still working to sell the midfielder during the January transfer window, despite him playing 120 minutes in yesterday’s Coppa Italia win at Fiorentina.

Di Marzio told viewers on Sky Sport Italia tonight that various intermediary figures are working on finding a club in the Premier League to sign Eriksen this month.

But the 28-year-old’s reported annual wage of €7.5 million after tax is dissuading all suitors.

Antonio Conte tried Eriksen in an unusual deep-lying play-maker position at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, with mixed reviews in Thursday’s newspapers on his performance.

His performance drew praise from his native Denmark, though, with the national team’s assistant coach Morten Wieghorst saying Eriksen ‘had all the qualities’ to become Inter’s new ‘regista’.

Eriksen has made just six starts in all competitions for the Nerazzurri so far this season.
