Inter’s owners Suning will respect all financial commitments made for the 2020-21 season, a report in Italy assured supporters today.

As per Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport’s print edition, this was made clear at yesterday’s Inter board of directors meeting when the Nerazzurri’s management discussed the club’s precarious financial position.

In practical terms, this means that Inter’s players will receive their salaries as expected for the months of July and August by the February 16 deadline set by the Italian Football Federation.

An agreement will have to be reached however for the payments of the salaries for the months of November and December, which should also have been paid by the middle of next month.

The players did not accept the wage cut proposal offered to them by club executives but they did tell the management that they were willing to allow the owners time given the current financial situation.

Chief executive Beppe Marotta is working on coming to an agreement with the team to settle the arrears and future payments, which will allow them to comply with federal regulations and avoid suffering a points deduction in the Serie A standings.
