Stefano Sensi will at least be able to start on the bench for Inter in Sunday’s Derby d’Italia at home to Juventus, according to an Italian media report today.

Gazzetta dello Sport, via their print edition, report that tests yesterday ruled out any kind of injury for the Italian midfielder, who suffered a calf problem in the warm-up before Wednesday’s Coppa Italia win over Fiorentina.

Sunday’s match has a particular meaning to it for Sensi seeing as it was this match last season between the two sides at San Siro where his injury problems at Inter began, when he was forced to be substituted in the first half of the Nerazzurri’s 2-1 defeat.

Antonio Conte is waiting anxiously for the former Sassuolo player to return to full fitness with Sensi having provided a precious contribution off the substitutes bench in the last month.

The report from the Milanese news outlet suggested that Sunday’s match could allow the 25-year-old to come full circle and finish his injury hell once and for all, against the same team where it all started in October 2019.
