Venezia head coach Paolo Zanetti has tonight confirmed the Serie B side are interested in signing Inter forward Sebastiano Esposito.

A report from Gianluca Di Marzio earlier on Thursday said the Nerazzurri were likely to finalise a loan move for the 18-year-old tomorrow.

Esposito was said to have already given his consent to join Venezia, who currently occupy the final play-off position in Italy’s second tier.

Speaking to Sportitalia, Zanetti said: “We like Esposito and he would sign for us willingly, but it depends on the two clubs.”

Esposito, who is widely regarded as one of Inter’s brightest young prospects, scored one goal in 13 appearances during the first half of this season on loan at Venezia’s promotion rivals SPAL.

He now hopes to play with more regularity under Zanetti in Venice, having been an unused substitute for each of his last five matches in Ferrara.

As many as eight Serie B clubs had been linked with Esposito, but the Lagunari appear to have won the race.

FcInterNews.it said Esposito had chosen Venezia over other suitors for tactical reasons, with Zanetti’s two-striker system making him more likely to enjoy frequent game time.
