Ex-Inter striker Ronaldo is confident that the Nerazzurri can maintain a Scudetto push ahead of their Derby d’Italia clash against Juventus on Sunday.

The Nerazzurri currently sit second in Serie A, just three points off AC Milan at the summit, and look to close the gap when they face Juventus at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, former Brazil international Ronaldo insisted that Inter were in a position to challenge for the Serie A title and had enough about them to win the Scudetto for the first time since 2010.

“I am not saying that Inter will definitely win the Scudetto this season, but they have enough factors to ensure they have a real chance,” Ronaldo declared.

The former Real Madrid and Barcelona striker claimed that under the leadership of Antonio Conte, Inter would be able to sustain their push for the title throughout the campaign.

“Inter have a coach who keeps his teams on track throughout the season and the players have an identity in the way they perform. I was particularly impressed with the mentality last season in the Europa League.”

With Inter eliminated from the Champions League at the Group Stage, Ronaldo also suggested that a lack of additional matches could aid the Nerazzurri on the domestic front.

“For the way that Conte works and makes demands of his players, not being in Europe could prove to be a big advantage. I would not be surprised if by March or April Inter are collecting more points than their rivals by having more energy.”

Ronaldo scored 59 goals in 99 appearances for Inter from 1997 to 2001 and lifted the UEFA Cup in his first season with the club.
