Inter’s determination to land out-of-favour Atalanta Papu Gomez could see them offer midfielder Christian Eriksen as part of an exchange deal.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere della Sera, Inter reached personal terms with Gomez over a move to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in December but have thus far been unable to strike a deal with Atalanta.

In order to facilitate the transfer, Inter are hoping to send Eriksen the other way but face a number of obstacles in reaching an agreement.

Whilst Atalanta may be open to a player exchange, they feel that they are already well stocked in attack and are reluctant to disrupt an offensive unit that has found form in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, Eriksen’s wage demands may also dent Inter’s hopes of concluding the transfer, with the Denmark international’s €7.5 million per season salary, in addition to substantial bonuses, taking him out of Atalanta’s price range.

However, with Eriksen yet to receive a suitable offer to leave the Biscione, Inter are hopeful that he can be convinced to join Atalanta should they contribute to his wages in Bergamo.
