Amidst negotiations of a takeover of Inter by BC Partners, Lega Serie A President Paolo Dal Pino claims that such investment would bring greater credibility to the league.
Current owners Suning are discussing the potential sale of the club to London-based equity fund BC Partners, who in turn have entered an exclusivity period as they assess the financial accounts of Inter.
Following the takeover of AC Milan by American investment management firm Elliot Management, Dal Pino spoke to Italian radio station Radio Deejay earlier today to suggest a similar arrangement would be beneficial to both Inter and Serie A as a whole.
“Private equity funds are industrial operators who raise funds to invest and make a big impact,” Dal Pino claimed. “They possess strong entrepreneurial skills, alongside that of the more orthodox club presidents who use their own money.
“Another entry into the league would be a positive thing and it would give greater credibility to the entire system.”
Suning have owned a controlling stake in Inter since June 2016, when the Chinese retail outfit purchased a majority share from former owner Erick Thohir.
Under Suning’s ownership, Inter have yet to lift a major honour, but made the Final of the Europa League last season.
