Italian pundit Luigi Garlando believes Inter v Juventus can be boiled down to a duel between Romelu Lukaku and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The two strikers are among the best in the world and are battling for the Capocannoniere crown.

The Juventus man has hit 15 goals in Serie A this season while Lukaku is three behind after banging in 12.

They’ll be on opposite sides in the Derby d’Italia tonight as Antonio Conte’s side look to establish a seven point lead over the Bianconeri.

Lukaku is looking to find the back of the net against Juve for the first time in his career after drawing a blank for Manchester United and Inter.

Writing in Gazzetta dello Sport, Garlando acknowledged that the match would come down to more than just the two star strikers.

However, the journalist believes it’s their duel which will ultimately decide the Derby d’Italia one way or the other.

“‘Pity the land that needs heroes’ someone once wrote,” he began.

“We sports journalists are clearly to be pitied because we always need them.

“Ok, so football is not boxing and can’t be reduced to a duel between two individuals, but rarely have two teams been characterised by only two players.

“The numbers and the story of the first half of the season require us to interpret Inter-Juve through the prism of Romelu Lukaku and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“The first and second in the top-scorer charts but not just that.”
