Arturo Vidal finally repaid the faith Inter showed in him last summer by scoring in last night’s Derby d’Italia win over Juventus, as per an Italian media report today.

Vidal scored the opening goal in the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 win at San Siro, his second goal in consecutive matches after netting a penalty against Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia last week.

Things did not get off to a great start for the Chilean international yesterday after he mistakenly kissed the badge of his former club Juventus, as he shared a moment with ex-teammate Giorgio Chiellini before the game, but Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition argued that he more than made up for his gaffe.

“This was the first time we have seen the real Vidal since he joined Inter in the summer,” their report stated.

Vidal, who is under contract until the end of next season after his move from Barcelona, has made 21 appearances this term, in which he has scored two goals and provided two assists.

He promised a supporter last week that he would go on to score 11 goals for Inter after missing a gilt-edged chance in the 2-2 draw at Roma, and he has already produced two of them in the seven days since.
