Two Premier League clubs have an interest in signing Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella, according to an Italian media report today.

As per CalcioMercato.com, both Tottenham Hotspur and reigning English champions Liverpool are keen on adding the highly rated Italian international to their ranks.

Barella has been with Inter for the last 18 months and is contracted to the club until the end of the 2023-24 season.

The report does not further specify when or on what terms Spurs and Liverpool would be interested, but it is extremely unlikely that any deal would be agreed for the former Cagliari midfielder to depart in January.

Barella, who was today hailed as one of the best Italian midfielders around by Italian media following his performance in the Derby d’Italia win over Juventus, has gone from strength to strength during his time at the club.

This season, the 23-year-old has made 25 appearances across all competitions to date.

During his time on the pitch, which totals just over 2000 minutes, Barella has scored two goals and has provided a team high eight assists for his teammates.
