Inter are working on trying to sign Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira on loan in January, according to an Italian media report today.

As per the print edition of Turin-based newspaper La Stampa, with intermediaries still working to find a new club for Christian Eriksen, the Nerazzurri are looking for another player who can act as the deputy to Marcelo Brozovic in midfield.

Torreira is midway through a season-long loan deal at Atletico Madrid from Arsenal but has hardly featured for Diego Simeone’s side this season.

Lazio and Fiorentina have shown an interest in signing the Uruguayan previously while Atletico’s La Liga rivals Valencia are keen to explore a deal too, should Arsenal decide to recall the midfielder.

The report explains that Inter are moving with decision in order to bring the Uruguayan international to the club on loan until the end of this season.

The 24-year-old has played just 420 minutes for Atletico this season, spread across 13 appearances, in which he he scored one goal and provided one assist too.

He already has experience of playing in Serie A after coming through Pescara’s academy and playing two subsequent seasons at Sampdoria.
