Italian Journalist Mario Sconcerti: “Inter Aren’t Improving But They’re Still Favourites To Win Serie A”

Inter confirmed their status as the favourites to win the Serie A title this season by beating Juventus on Sunday, according to Italian football writer Mario Sconcerti.

Juventus have dominated Italian football for the past nine years straight and have typically left Inter behind but the tables appear to have turned this season.

Inter won the Derby d’Italia for the first time since 2016 on Sunday thanks to goals from Arturo Vidal and Nicolo Barella and are now seven points ahead of their arch rivals in the standings.

“Inter are leaving the worst Juventus side of the last 10 years behind them,” he explained in his latest editorial piece for Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

“Inter dominated from start to finish without even struggling.

“It was easy because they had everything from professionalism and attention that never existed on the other side.

“Barella’s goal was beautiful, although Juve should never concede such a goal.

“When you play like that it means that there was no suitable preparation for the game.

“It was as if Juve were inside a cloud of amateurism, they just did not react.

“Inter are not improving but they remain the favourites.

“AC Milan have better moments of play, but they must always play well to get results.

“The gap between the two Milan teams and the others who win is now a lot. A clear road has already been drawn.”

Inter are next in action this coming weekend with them due to face Udinese away from home.

The Nerazzurri remain three points behind their city rivals despite their famous win at the weekend, after Stefano Pioli’s side restored their cushion with a win at Cagliari last night.
