Former Inter striker Christian Vieri has challenged the Nerazzurri to play more often like they did against Juventus in Sunday’s Derby d’Italia.

Antonio Conte’s side ran out comfortable winners against the Bianconeri at San Siro, with goals from Arturo Vidal and Nicolo Barella securing a 2-0 success.

However, Inter have struggled in other big matches in Serie A this season, dropping leads against Roma, Lazio and Atalanta and losing to AC Milan in the Derby della Madonnina.

“Inter’s performance against Juve was their best since Conte was appointed,” ex-Italy striker Vieri said on his Twitch channel, Bobo TV.

“I saw a perfect team that was aggressive, fast and did nothing wrong.

“They could have scored four or five goals without any problems.

“Even defensively, they played well.

“They had a great game and made their opposition play badly.

“They should always play like this, with this mentality, not like they did against Napoli or Roma.

“Inter didn’t really let Juventus play.”

Vieri also moved to defend Cristiano Ronaldo for his off-colour performance at San Siro, cited by many as a key reason for Juve’s lack of attacking threat last weekend.

“I don’t think it was a problem with Ronaldo, it was problem about the whole team,” Vieri argued.

“Inter dominated from the first to the last minute on all fronts.

“It was a bad Juventus side, but above all Inter were too strong.”

Vieri made 190 appearances for Inter in all competitions between 1999 and 2006, scoring 123 goals and helping the Nerazzurri lift the Coppa Italia in 2005.

He also spent one season at Juventus, where his 14 goals helped Marcello Lippi’s men to win the Serie A title in 1997.
