Inter have decided not to let Andrea Pinamonti leave in January, according to an Italian media report tonight.

As per Gazzetta dello Sport‘s online edition, the Nerazzurri have come to this decision after realising they would not be able to replace the 21-year-old given they cannot spend any money in this month’s transfer window.

Inter would have been prepared to let Pinamonti go had it been possible for them to acquire Gervinho from Parma, but the Ivorian now seems unlikely to leave the Ducali as well following the re-appointment of Roberto D’Aversa as head coach.

Antonio Conte would have approved of Gervinho’s arrival but it seems he will have to make do with his current options until the summer, namely Romelu Lukaku, Lautaro Martinez, Alexis Sanchez and Pinamonti.

Pinamonti had been strongly linked with a move to Benevento, who were prepared to pay €15 million for him, but the newly-promoted club have now understood they can no longer get him and have directed their attention elsewhere.

Conte has given Pinamonti just three cameo appearances in all competitions this season but the Inter boss cannot afford to risk being left short up front, should Lukaku, Lautaro or Sanchez pick up injuries.
