This evening, Inter head northeast to Udine to play Udinese, a side who are fighting to stay in the Serie A this season.

Inter remain in second place, 3 points behind leaders AC Milan, so no change since Inter’s Derby D’Italia win.

Udinese on the other hand, are sitting in 15th position, have not won any of their last five league ties, drawing two and losing three, and are only 4 points clear of the relegation zone.

Inter have won 3 of their last five league matches, drawing one and losing the other. This meeting is the 95th time these two clubs have faced off in the Serie A, where Inter have had the better results.

Of the 94 previously played matches, Inter have come out victorious 47 times, drawn 26 times, and lost 21. This has been boosted recently, as in the last twelve matches, Inter have won ten of them, the other two being a draw and a defeat.

Since Inter are playing away from home in this tie, of the last 10 matches played away to Udinese, Inter have won 7 times, drawing once, and Udinese winning the other two.

In those ten games, a total of thirty goals have been scored, 21 of which, have been scored by Inter. Looking at current form, Inter still retain the top scorers title, netting a total of 45 goals in league games, which is the second best in all of Europe’s top 5 leagues.

Inter also remain in 5th place for the least amount of goals conceded, this time tied with Atalanta instead of Roma.

Udinese are meanwhile struggling a bit, although they did manage an impressive draw against a strong Atalanta last time out.

As mentioned before, Udinese sit in 15th position, sitting on 17 points, scoring 20 goals, the 5th lowest amount in league play, and have conceded 28 goals themselves, sitting bang in the middle for the lowest amount conceded, 10th place.

Moving on to individuals, Romelu Lukaku remains in 2nd place on the scorers chart with 12 goals, and 3 assists.  Nicolo Barella meanwhile deserves a shout-out, especially after his last performance against Juventus.

Udinese’s top scorer so far is talisman Rodrigo De Paul, a player many Fans would like at their own club, including Inter.

The midfielder has been in impressive form this year, and many would argue that without him, Udinese would be in a much lower league position.

Another important player for Udinese is Kevin Lasagna, the striker has been on a bit of a rough patch this season.  Having played 16 of the 18 matches this season, Lasagna has only bagged 2 goals.

Compare that to last season, where he scored 10 goals in the whole season, and every one is important to the Bianconeri if they wish to remain in Italy’s top flight.

This match marks the halfway point in the season, and Inter are continuing to push on for the Scudetto, whereas Udinese are fighting for their survival. This should be a good one to watch.
