Inter should not look to change everything in the event that they are unable to win the Serie A title this season, at least according to legendary Inter defender Marco Materazzi.

Inter have been widely tipped as title favourites by many media outlets and pundits this season and Antonio Conte’s Nerazzurri side currently occupy second spot in the Serie A standings after 18 games played so far this season.

Inter are currently sitting just three points behind current league leaders AC Milan and with 20 games left of the 2020/21 season, there is still more than enough time for Inter to overtake them.

“If Inter don’t win the scudetto does everything have to change? I wouldn’t say they need to change everything,” the 2006 World Cup winning centre back told former Inter teammate Christian Vieri during a broadcast on his Twitch channel, Bobo TV.

“Last year there were the assumptions of being able to win and it is true that it was Conte’s first year, but he is a great coach.

“The fact that we finished just one point from Juve is because Juve pulled the handbrake.

“This year Inter have started to win and must do so, on the understanding that AC Milan are doing things that no one expected and are doing incredible things.

“Taking AC Milan off of top spot will not be easy, it will be a nice challenge until the end but in my opinion Inter have something more than them.”

Materazzi then went on to explain what he feels would be the case if AC Milan did go on to win the Serie A title and shared his belief about what Inter coach Antonio Conte would have to do should that occur.

“If AC Milan win it, it is not a failure for Inter, but for everyone.

“Inter are absolutely the favourites but there are so many factors to consider.

“You can’t give the cross to the coach or to a single player to carry.

“For sure if Inter do not win, Conte being the leader should ask himself questions.”
