Inter Lacked Aggression In Udinese Draw, Italian Media Claim

Inter have come under criticism for a laboured performance in yesterday’s goalless draw against Udinese in Serie A.

The Nerazzurri struggled to find a way past the Zebrette at the Dacia Arena and had to settle for a point, as they were unable to take advantage of AC Milan’s heavy 3-0 defeat to Atalanta and move top.

A lack of fight and aggression, coupled with an inability to carve a way through a well-organised and disciplined Udinese set up were to blame for the draw, according to today’s newspaper edition of Corriere della Sera.

“Inter were slow on the pitch and were not aggressive or taking risks,” Corriere della Sera claimed in their post match analysis. “Udinese came with a plan to sit deep and close the space, but Inter’s play was laboured.

“[Achraf] Hakimi was unable to get into the match while [Romelu] Lukaku was neutralised by the Udinese defence. Similarly, Lautaro Martinez was wasteful in front of goal. Inter let the game slip away and any team that challenges for the Scudetto cannot be satisfied with such a performance.”

Whilst Inter enjoyed the better of the play, they were unable to find a way past Udinese goalkeeper Juan Musso and failed to score for the first time in five Serie A matches.

The Nerazzurri’s next league match comes against newly-promoted Benevento at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Saturday, following a Coppa Italia Quarter-Final clash against Milan on Tuesday.
