Despite plans to bolster their squad, Inter are expected to experience a quiet transfer window as they are hampered by financial woes, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims.

The Nerazzurri are yet to make a significant addition to their squad this month and have only seen limited outgoings, with Radja Nainggolan offloaded to Cagliari and ongoing attempts to sell midfielder Christian Eriksen.

Speaking on Sky Sport Italia earlier today, Di Marzio suggested that the economic situation at Inter meant that wholesale changes were unlikely, yet they were far from unique in this.

With a number of clubs affected by the costs of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Di Marzio claimed that whilst Inter had a number of plans that they wished to pursue, the reality was that it was unlikely they would be able to afford major additions.

“In the current climate, having the will to make transfers and being able to is a big difference,” Di Marzio declared. “Much is said about Inter, that the club or the coach would like to do certain things. The reality is that they can’t, but this is true of many clubs.”

Despite a quiet transfer window, Inter remain in the hunt for the Serie A title and sit second in the table at the halfway stage, just two points off leaders AC Milan.
