Inter’s failure to beat Udinese was a squandered opportunity to take advantage in the race for the Serie A title, according to Italian journalist Giovanni Capuano.

With league leaders AC Milan falling to a heavy 3-0 defeat to Atalanta, Inter would have gone top at the halfway point of the season with victory at the Dacia Arena, but could only earn a goalless draw.

Looking to move into pole position in the Serie A table, the Nerazzurri wasted numerous chances and were unable to find a way through a disciplined Udinese defence, as they failed to score for the first time in five league matches.

Failure to beat the Zebrette could prove costly in the long run and it ought to be seen as two crucial points dropped, Capuano declared on social media.

Taking to Twitter to express his opinion on the draw, Capuano was critical of Inter’s approach and inability to make the most of their rivals’ slip up, referencing their 2-1 defeat to Sampdoria at the start of the month.

“Inter’s draw in Udine should be seen from a glass half empty perspective. Just like against Sampdoria, they were unable to close in on Milan on the day the Rossoneri lose,” Capuano claimed.
