Negotiations between Atalanta and Sevilla over the transfer of Papu Gomez are ongoing, according to a report from a noted Italian journalist this afternoon.

As per Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, there has been contact between the clubs in the past few hours to iron out some crucial details in order for a deal to be completed.

Sevilla are working on reducing Atalanta’s demands for the 32-year-old, with Di Marzio claiming there is still some distance between the upfront fee and the add-ons, but an agreement should be found on the basis of approximately €8 million.

Gomez is widely expected to leave Atalanta this transfer window after falling out with coach Gian Piero Gasperini and he has also been strongly linked with a move to Inter.

MLS franchise FC Cincinnati have also been linked with signing him and they are reportedly willing to make Gomez the highest paid player in the league.
