Inter’s prospective new owners BC Partners are being assisted by an Italian football legend in their bid to buy the club from Suning, a report in Italy revealed tonight.

The British investment firm are conducting due diligence on the Nerazzurri’s accounts ahead of potentially making an offer to buy a majority stake in the club.

According to Il Sole 24 Ore, BC Partners are taking advice during negotiations from British-based sports advisory firm Tifosy, which was co-founded by former Juventus and Italy striker Gianluca Vialli.

Vialli is not involved personally, however, because Juventus’s former chief financial officer Marco Re – now head of Tifosy’s Italian branch – is working with the private equity fund on the company’s behalf.

Re has experience advising investors on deals to buy football clubs, having been involved in negotiations for Serie B club Pisa and Sampdoria, although his client’s deal to take over the Blucerchiati from Massimo Ferrero did not go through.

Tifosy is described as ‘a fully integrated global sports advisory and capital solutions firm’ on their website.
