Inter face competition from several Premier League clubs in their bid to sign Sampdoria midfielder Mikkel Damsgaard, according to an Italian media report today.

Damsgaard has been linked with switches to both the Nerazzurri and Napoli in recent weeks and as per CalcioMercato.com, they now have competition from several teams in England, although no specific clubs are named in this report.

Sampdoria do not intend to sell Damsgaard in the January transfer window, partly because he is one of the players who is used most by coach Claudio Ranieri.

20-year-old Damsgaard only joined Sampdoria this past summer from FC Nordjaelland and has made a real impression in his time in Italy thus far.

Damsgaard has made 20 appearances across all competitions to date this term and in close to 1100 minutes, he has scored two goals and also provided a total of three assists for his teammates at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
