Inter made progress towards agreeing a contract extension for Lautaro Martinez after holding fresh talks with the striker’s representatives today, a report in Italy revealed tonight.

As per FCInterNews.it, there is a draft agreement over a deal which would see El Toro’s salary rise to €6 million per year, including add-ons.

This is a lower figure than what Lautaro’s entourage were initially asking for, but given the current economic landscape it is an agreement that satisfies all parties.

Inter are ready to finalise the new deal whenever Suning give the green light, although it is possible this will not happen for some time considering the club’s off-field issues at present.

Lautaro, who is already under contract with Inter until the end of the 2022-23 season, is therefore getting closer to a contract extension, just like teammates Stefan de Vrij and Alessandro Bastoni.

The 23-year-old joined Inter back in 2018 on a five-year contract and in his time with the club he has cemented himself as one of the best young strikers around.

The Argentine international has made 26 appearances under Antonio Conte this season, in which he has scored 10 goal and provided five assists for his Nerazzurri teammates.
