Inter coach Antonio Conte led Inter to victory over AC Milan with a system that could help Christian Eriksen to flourish again, according to an Italian media report today.
As per Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition, the 4-3-1-2 system used in the second half of the match at San Siro, with Alexis Sanchez playing behind Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez, could be one that enables Eriksen to perform to his best.
The Denmark international has very seldom performed to expectations during his year with Inter but stepped up when it mattered in yesterday’s match.
Conte brought the 28-year-old on off the bench with a few minutes of regular time to spare and deep into injury time, Eriksen stood over a free kick and as he did so many times during his Tottenham Hotspur days, he found the back of the net which gave Inter a 2-1 win over their city rivals.
Eriksen has been strongly linked with a departure from Inter this month and it remains to be seen if he will stay and if he could possibly flourish again in the 4-3-1-2 system.
