Lautaro Martinez’s release clause of €111 million is almost certain to remain in his new contract at Inter, according to an Italian newspaper report today.
As per Tuttosport’s print edition, discussions between the players representatives and Inter are ongoing and an agreement is not far off being reached.
Lautaro’s agents would like his salary brought in line with the other big names in the squad like Romelu Lukaku and Christian Eriksen, who both earn €7.5 million a year.
With Lukaku and Eriksen, however, Inter were able to take advantage of tax laws in Italy in order to pay a lower gross amount, something they cannot do with Lautaro.
Lautaro could be one of several players to renew their contracts with the Nerazzurri soon with the report going on to add that Danilo D’Ambrosio, Alessandro Bastoni and Stefan de Vrij will all also sign new deals soon.
When it comes to the release clause issue, Lautaro’s agents would like to keep it in while Inter have no objection to removing it.
