Edin Dzeko’s agent is the driving force behind Inter and Roma’s talks over a loan swap involving Alexis Sanchez, according to an Italian media report this afternoon.

As per FCInterNews.it, Alessandro Lucci has been trying to move his client on from the Italian capital city club for the past few days and has been offering him out to several clubs, including Juventus, Manchester City and Chelsea.

Antonio Conte has wanted to sign Dzeko at Inter ever since joining the club in 2019, but there are numerous economic and technical obstacles to the proposed swap deal.

While both players earn similar salaries, with Sanchez earning €7 million annually and Dzeko on €7.5 million, Inter save €2.5 million on the Chilean’s wages each season courtesy of Italy’s ‘decreto crescita’, a tax law allowing them a 50% tax reduction.

The Nerazzurri would be unable to exploit the same law if they signed Dzeko, though, meaning they would need Roma to pay them a small fee as part of the deal for the swap to be economically viable.

There are also on-pitch questions for both clubs, because Roma would only have Borja Mayoral left up front if they offloaded Dzeko and Inter would be short of a replacement for Lautaro Martinez without Sanchez.

Roma are said to be in a hurry to resolve Dzeko’s future after the striker fell out with head coach Paulo Fonseca, perhaps even to the detriment of their finances if necessary.

The report also goes on to add that it remains to be seen whether Sanchez would even accept a move to the Stadio Olimpico, considering Inter are in the hunt for the Serie A title and have qualified for the Coppa Italia semi-finals.
